BELOIT — An idea to merge fire departments is back on the Tuesday night agendas for both the Beloit City Council and Town of Beloit Board of Supervisors.
The Beloit City Council is going to talk about a proposed intergovernmental agreement in closed session, while the Town Board of Supervisors will consider it in open session as part of new business.
On Jan. 27, the city and town issued a joint news release announcing the two municipalities are considering consolidating fire and emergency medical services. The effort to explore the proposal came about because both parties face fiscal and operational pressures including staffing challenges and rising costs.
