Sharon O’Connor and her husband, Andrew, have five children ranging from a high school junior to a first grader.
After the births of her fourth and fifth children, O’Connor began developing varicose veins – swollen, bluish-purple veins that no longer moved blood properly through her body. She spent years dealing with worsening symptoms.
“My left leg was worse than my right leg,” says the Davis Junction, Ill., mother. “It would swell, and next to my knee I could feel blood pooling there. As soon as I came home, I’d put my feet up first thing because my legs would ache so badly. I thought, ‘I have to get this fixed because it impedes my life.’ It affected trips to the amusement park, exercising. I didn’t want to live the rest of my life like that.”…
