Rockford’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Turns 50 This Year

Rockford’s favorite St. Patrick’s Day tradition is celebrating a major milestone this year, and you won’t want to miss the fun!

Favorite St. Patrick’s Day Memories

Every year when the calendar switches to March, I start to reminisce about some of my favorite memories of St. Paddy’s past.

I’ve definitely drunk my fair share of green beer over the years, but those aren’t the memories I’m referring to here. These are:

  • March 17, 2012: After getting ready to hit the bars with my husband for some Irish shenanigans dressed in my favorite St. Patrick’s Day shirt, I took a test that revealed I was pregnant with our first daughter.
  • 2019 St. Patrick’s Day celebration: A friend caught my youngest daughter falling out of the stroller, and me running over her, during the parade in Downtown Rockford:

In all seriousness, Downtown Rockford puts on an awesome St. Patrick’s Day celebration every year, and there’s one big reason why 2026’s will be its biggest one yet.

50th Anniversary of Rockford’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

For fifty years the Irish Marching Society of Rockfordhas been putting on a fabulous parade on the Saturday closest to St. Patrick’s Day, and this year’s event will take place on March 14 starting at 3 p.m.

The parade begins in Downtown Rockford at Ernie’s Midtown Pub, and then travels to 7th Street, to East State Street, to Madison St., and ends at Prairie Street Brewhouse where the official St. Patrick’s Day After-Party, aka Paddyfest takes place…
