ROCKFORD — A mansion built in the middle of the Civil War has been sold after more than a decade on the market.
Briggs Mansion, 1244 E. State St., was sold Friday for $295,000 to UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital, which is across the street from the 163-year-old Italianate-style mansion. The transaction was confirmed through real estate records with the Winnebago County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.
UW Health hasn’t revealed its plans for the once grand home or how it will use the property…
