ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford city officials released new information Wednesday in response to growing questions about a large-scale data center proposed by Monarch Energy, a project the developer has recently begun discussing publicly.
According to the City, several key details about the project remain unknown, including who would operate the facility and who the end customer might be. Officials said the proposal is still early in the process and no site‑specific plans have been submitted.
The land at the center of the proposal has been planned for industrial use for nearly two decades.
