ROCKFORD, IL — Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara says he has never shied away from a tough vote and that his decision not to break a tie at the March 2 City Council meeting was no exception.
His choice not to vote allowed the measure to fail.
Aldermen had voted 7 to 7 on a motion to “lay over” a vote for two weeks on whether to expand Rockford’s use of Flock Safety license plate readers and intersection cameras. Without a majority, the vote fails unless the mayor decides to cast a “yes” vote as McNamara has done under other circumstances…
