State Sen. Andrew Chesney is offering local students a chance to learn about state government.
Chesney, R-Freeport, is hosting a Youth Advisory Council meeting on March 17 at Highland Community College in Freeport, according to a community announcement.
The council brings together students from across the 45th District to learn about state government, hear from guest speakers and work together to develop legislative proposals addressing issues in their communities.
Learning firsthand
“I’m excited to bring students together for this Youth Advisory Council and give them a firsthand look at how the legislative process works,” Chesney said in the announcement. “Getting young people involved in civic life early is incredibly important, and this program gives them the chance to hear from leaders in our community and start engaging with the issues that will shape their future.”…
