Winnebago County property assessments remain unchanged by state equalization

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County homeowners will see no change to their property assessments from the State of Illinois’ equalization process this year. The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) has issued a final property assessment equalization factor, commonly called the “multiplier”, of 1.0000 for 2025 taxes, payable in 2026.

The announcement means the state found Winnebago County’s overall property assessments to be essentially in line with Illinois’ requirement that properties be assessed at one‑third of market value.

Illinois uses the equalization factor to ensure property assessments are applied fairly across all counties, especially because many of the state’s 6,600 taxing districts cross county lines.
