Freeport to demolish vacant building, warns of construction impact

FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — The city of Freeport is in the process of demolishing One Hour Sanitary Cleaners, a building left vacant for years, but officials are warning neighboring businesses of the impact construction will bring.

“It’s very dangerous. It’s a very tight space. The buildings actually have to be brought down in layers to be able to get them down safely,” explained engineering consultant for Fehr Graham, Darin Stykel.

The building was deemed too dangerous to the point that no one was allowed to enter the building because parts of the roof were beginning to collapse…
