ROCKFORD — A family-owned funeral home that has served the region for 138 years is adding a new location that will allow it to expand its options for providing families with funerals, ceremonies and celebrations of life.
Olson Funeral & Cremation Services has purchased the former New Life Lutheran Church, 1100 N. Lyford Road, for what will become its seventh location and third in the city of Rockford. New Life ceased operations at the end of last year, and congregants were directed to Peace Lutheran Church in Loves Park and Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in South Beloit, according to its website.
Olson Funeral, which is the oldest business continuously owned by the same family in the city, is making interior renovations as well as landscaping and parking lot improvements to the site now. The goal is to begin services there in June…
