The city-owned parking lot between Douglas and Exchange streets and Chicago and Van Buren avenues in Freeport will be closed starting March 30, 2026, for construction.
The project will include pavement removal, storm sewer components, electrical upgrades, concrete work, paving operations, landscaping and pavement markings, according to a community announcement.
Construction is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks, with completion anticipated by mid-June 2026, according to the announcement.
Alternative parking options available
