ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – It was another wild weather day across the stateline. We had some sunshine to start, and we officially topped out at 70° in Rockford. That occurred around 11am, before a cold front quickly swept through the area. This shifted our winds to the north and northeast allowing much colder air to move in across northern Illinois. As we head into the evening hours, expect a few showers and storms to linger, however most of those should stay below severe limits with the primary threat being small hail. Most of the precipitation should come to an end between 7pm-8pm. Drier conditions then move in overnight, as temperatures tumble into the 30s by midnight.
