Rockford veteran’s center closes as founder steps down for medical reasons

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A new Rockford veteran’s center announced Monday it is ending services due to its founder’s medical condition.

Homefront 815 Veterans Center, which achieved its non-profit status in December, will cease operations after founder Ted Christo resigned from his central role.

The center operated out of the Ross-Pearson VFW on 7th Street, serving meals to local veterans after launching during a temporary closure in the Rockford Veterans Drop-In Center late last year. The Veterans Drop-In Center reopened in January 2026…
