Rockford teen arrested with machine gun and extended magazine, police say

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 17-year-old faces several charges after officers say he was found Thursday with an illegal handgun with an automatic switch during a traffic stop.

The Rockford teen is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm with no serial number, possession of an ammunition device and no valid FOID (ineligible).

Around 6:45 p.m., May 14, police pulled over a vehicle at E. State and Third Streets in Rockford. According to officers, they recovered the loaded handgun with an automatic switch and an extended magazine from the car…
