(FOX40.COM) —A man suspected of a 2017 murder in Sacramento County has been captured and extradited from Mexico to the U.S., the FBI announced Tuesday.
On Sept. 4, 2017, an angler found the body of a woman, later identified as Emelina Quintero-Ramos, in the Sacramento River near Isleton. After a month of investigating, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office issued a felony warrant for Jose Guadalupe Lopez Nunez, the woman’s boyfriend, who is suspected of killing her and dumping her body in the river in an attempt to conceal the crime, the FBI said.
Lopez Nunez, a Mexican national, then fled to Mexico. According to the FBI, a federal warrant was soon issued for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
On Aug. 31, 2025, a tip led to the capture Lopez Nunez near Mezquital del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico. He was extradited to Sacramento by FBI agents on July 2 and made his first appearance in Sacramento Superior Court on Tuesday, the FBI said…
