Sacramento’s SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity marked a new addition to its River District campus last Friday, celebrating the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of Galaxy Café. The café is billed as a new gathering space designed to enhance the visitor experience, and unlike the museum’s exhibit halls, it is open to the public without requiring a museum ticket.
The grand opening, which took place in Sacramento on September 18, was reported by Sacramento Press. Galaxy Café is meant to give guests a place to relax and refuel while they explore MOSAC’s exhibits, programs, and planetarium experiences, according to the outlet.
A New Stop Inside a Growing Science Hub
MOSAC has operated in Sacramento’s historic River District since 2021, and the museum offers more than 30,000 square feet of hands-on science activities at its 400 Jibboom St. location, according to visitmosac.org.
