(FOX40.COM) — A New Orleans-inspired Mardi Gras Carnival is returning to Old Sacramento with a parade and parties included in the lineup.
The 2024 Sacramento Mardi Gras, hosted by Louisiana Sue, is scheduled to happen from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 and is expected to draw out a combined 50,000 people between the two parties, according to the event website . The first party kicks off at the Old Sacramento Waterfront (Embarcadero) and the second at the Freeway Gardens in Old Sacramento.

The parties will be featured back-to-back along the parade route:
Embarcadero Party
10 a.m. – Barbie and Ken Gathering for the Guinness Book of world record counting.
11 a.m. – Crowning of the King and Queen of Krewe of Gumbo.
Noon – Drum circle, instrument petting zoo, mask-making historic calliope.
1 p.m. – Krewe of Gumbo Rolls.
After the parade on the Embarcadero, there will be a Barbie and Ken fashion show, and performances by BTU Arts Brass Bands and Second Lines, Sactown Majorettes, Zee Crew Dancers, and Premier School of Dance Citrus Heights.
