SACRAMENTO – The student who was shot at a high school in Sacramento on Tuesday spoke with CBS13 to detail what happened.
Christopher Balan, 17, spoke with CBS13 after he was discharged from the hospital. Since he is a minor, Sacramento police could not confirm his identity, but Balan still had on his hospital wristband, bandages and blood on his shirt.
“I was with my friends at school in the parking lot and this kid walked up to us with a gun and he tried to scare us, but we weren’t scared,” he said.
Balan said he and his friends tried to chase him back and that is when he got shot in the arm.
“It could have been a lot worse,” he added.
Balan is a senior at Grant High who was just a few months away from graduating. Because of this incident, he will be finishing high school online.
Sacramento police say they got a ShotSpotter alert near the campus a little before 10 a.m. Police soon got calls reporting that a student had been shot by another student.
