Trail of clues leads California detectives to suspected serial burglar who hit three times in a week

Roseville Police Officers have successfully closed the chapter on a series of business burglaries that occurred on January 25th, 29th, and 30th. The swift response and collaborative efforts of the Traffic, Investigations, and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect responsible for the spree.

The breakthrough in the case came as Traffic officers obtained surveillance footage from the targeted businesses, initiating a thorough investigation, police said. With the aid of the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC), officers successfully located the suspect’s vehicle and secured license plate information, investigators added. This crucial data paved the way for coordinated efforts by the Traffic, Investigations, and SIU teams to identify the suspect, his vehicle, and his residence.

On January 31st, officers executed an arrest, taking 35-year-old Donald Olson into custody at his residence in Lincoln. Subsequent searches at Olson’s residence yielded the exact clothing and tools used in the commission of the three commercial burglaries.
