Sacramento, Tahoe-area school districts close campuses following damaging storm

(FOX40.COM) — School districts across the Sacramento Valley and in the Sierra Nevada have called for school closures on Monday following Sunday’s intense storm.

The Sacramento City Unified School District, Marysville Joint Unified School District, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District and Sierra College have called for campus closures on Monday.

Sacramento City announced that West Campus High School and New Tech High School have been closed due to both campuses being without power.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District has restored power to nearly 160,000 customers after Sunday’s storm put 200,000 customers in the dark.

These two campuses are awaiting SMUD to restore their power, which the utility provider says will be completed before school on Tuesday.

Marysville Joint Unified closed all 23 of its schools on Monday due to ongoing power outages and hazardous road conditions throughout the area.
