The tech worker said she received a call in May 2023 about supposed suspicious activity related to her account, per the Fox affiliate KTTV.

She strongly denied making the so-called purchases and said, “I told them no.”

Callaway received a text message that asked her to confirm her details.

She admitted that she wasn’t initially suspicious as she had spoken to her bank before.

Thousands of dollars then vanished from the bank account.

She lost at least $4,200 and was also slapped with extra charges.

Callaway has said she’s struggled to recover the missing money.

A Wells Fargo representative has urged bank customers to be wary of scammers who impersonate customers such as banks.

The U.S. Sun has approached Wells Fargo for comment.

Scammers can spoof caller IDs to make it look like the call is coming from the bank.
