Before the Filming of the Leonardo Dicaprio Picture, the City of Sacramento Swept Out the Homeless.

Six homeless tents were removed from Cesar Chavez Plaza by the city of Sacramento on Thursday in preparation for the start of production on a big Leonardo DiCaprio film.

According to city spokesperson Tim Swanson, the city does not simply post “attention to vacate” warnings on the movie tent; it does likewise on all tents in the downtown park when a licensed event is due to happen.

Wintertime brings colder weather and rain, which make it more difficult for homeless people to relocate, therefore there aren’t many additional activities held at Cesar Chavez Plaza.

During a downpour on Wednesday, the city marked six tents with vibrant green tags. The storm was the tail end of a large atmospheric river that destroyed the homeless encampment and stranded a 73-year-old woman in her tent under a downed tree in North Sacramento.

The homeless were given a 24-hour warning to evacuate the park by the city using “notice to vacate” fliers. Two of the residents have already left the city’s new Roseville Road shelter, where all of the inhabitants were offered seats, according to Swanson.
