Car pulled out of Elk Grove lake; driver charged with DUI and hit-and-run

(FOX40.COM) — The Elk Grove Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office recently teamed up to recover a vehicle out of a lake in Elk Grove, which led to an arrest for charges of drunk driving and a hit-and-run.

According to Elk Grove Police, a couple was in an argument shortly before 9 a.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived at the area, they found a person walking down the street who showed “clear signs of impairment.”

During a conversation with the police, the person mentioned that their vehicle was parked near a lake.

Officers began searching the area of Stonelake in Elk Grove and noticed a damaged gate. Police said they also noticed tire marks in the ground leading up to the lake.

As Elk Grove Police searched the area, they learned that the person’s vehicle was in the lake and that there was no one inside of it.
