In a significant breakthrough, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Central Division Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team and Organized Retail Crimes Group, conducted a successful operation leading to the arrest of a prolific retail theft suspect.
Simmuel Reed, a 20-year-old known probationer, was apprehended today, February 16, 2024, following an investigation into a felony retail theft from a store in South Sacramento on February 13.
Reed had become a suspect in more than 15 large retail theft cases throughout Northern California, prompting an intensive investigation by the Property Crimes Detectives.
Additionally, Reed was the subject of an outstanding felony arrest warrant. The collaborative effort of law enforcement agencies, including the Sacramento County Probation Department, culminated in the search of Reed’s residence.
During the search, detectives uncovered a staggering amount of stolen retail merchandise valued at over $10,000.
The stolen goods were traced back to several retailers, including WSS SHOES, BATH & BODY WORKS, MARSHALL’s, NIKE, ZUMIEZ, and various others. Notably, many of the recovered items still had their anti-theft security tags and stickers intact.
