Sacramento park to get a makeover and more art

(FOX40.COM) — Colonial Park in Sacramento will undergo a transformation with help from more than 100 volunteers this month.

On September 14, the volunteers will descend on the park to clean the landscape and picnic areas, replace some vegetation with native species and a local artist will unveil new mural designs.

Sacramento residents urged to practice mindful waste disposal after multiple trash fires

The park is more than two acres and is located in the Colonial Heights neighborhood, at 5315 19th Ave .

It contains a partial basketball court, picnic and play areas, a softball field and a wading pool.

The cleanup is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon and will include staff from the city, Caltrans and Clean California, as well as artist Jessica Wimbley, according to a news release.
