Sacramento’s airport to close parking lot ahead of new construction

(FOX40.COM) — If you’re traveling out of or picking someone up at Sacramento International Airport Terminal B, heads up, the closest parking lot to that terminal is closing starting in October.

The reason? That’s where the airport’s newest parking garage will be built.

The hourly lot is just west of the airline booths for Terminal B and has 673 spaces, and is meant to be used for short stays.

Terminal B services the following airlines: Aeromexico, Alaska Airlines, Frontier, Hawaiian Airlines, Horizon, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit and Volaris.

The lot’s closure will make way for a new parking garage with more than 5,500 spaces. It’s part of a $1.3 billion renovation project at the airport.

The increase in garage space has been cited as the “number one opportunity” to improve guest experiences at the airport, county officials have said.

On a recent day, the airport had all but one lot full , leaving drivers wishing to park with a far-away parking lot.
