The proposed stadium design will eliminate the six-lane-wide track on the field’s perimeter, allowing for more seating closer to the field.

The stadium’s capacity will grow from a maximum of 21,195 attendees to at least 25,000, according to Sacramento State.

The stadium will be home to Hornet football, as well as men’s and women’s rugby, men’s and women’s soccer and club sports.

The architecture firm Populous, which has worked on notable athletic venues such as Oracle Park and Yankee Stadium, will design the new Hornet Stadium.
