Northern California fire truck kills one, injures another

(FOX40.COM) — One person is dead and another is injured after an incident that involved a fire engine in West Sacramento.

Around 11 a.m. on Oct. 18, a West Sacramento Fire Department fire engine responded to a report of a brush fire along the railroad tracks on the 500 block of Jefferson Blvd. According to WSFD, while en route, the truck drove over a carpet where two people were later found inside.

WSFD said the incident is believed to have resulted in the death of a man and serious injuries to a woman. Officials said she is currently in stable condition.

“We are grieved any time that an emergency response results in a death or injury of someone we are sworn to assist,” said West Sacramento Fire Chief Steve Binns. “

The incident is currently under investigation.
