California graduates 169 new correctional officers who take on vital rehabilitation role

GALT — The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) celebrated the graduation of 169 new correctional officers today at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt. Family and friends gathered to honor the cadets, who completed 13 weeks of intensive training and are now set to serve in institutions across California.

Ironwood State Prison Warden David Holbrook delivered an emotional keynote speech, highlighting the class’s significance. “This class is special not only because we are swearing in new peace officers equipped to uphold the mission of CDCR, but because my daughter will be carrying on our family’s legacy of public service by graduating today,” Holbrook shared.
