SACRAMENTO – Crews say a fire damaged a home in south Sacramento early Monday morning.
The scene was on W. Nichols Avenue, near 16th Avenue.
Sacramento Fire crews responded to the scene just before 6 a.m. and found heavy flames coming from the rear of the property.
It appears a shed caught fire, with the flames then spreading to a two-story house.
Firefighters cleared the home and found no one inside. The flames had spread into the second floor and attic of the home, along with a detached garage at a neighboring property.
The fire was contained by 6:30 a.m. but firefighters were still on scene checking for hot spots.
Exactly what started the fire is under investigation.
