Four Northern California senior care providers fined $863k over employee pay violations

(FOX40.COM) — The U.S. Department of Labor recovered over $800,000 in wages and damages from four senior care providers in Northern California after it determined they failed to pay 58 workers properly.

The agency said Stockton-based Brisbane Guest Home Inc. did not pay proper overtime to 11 workers and ordered the company to pay $483,185 in back wages and another $7,546 in penalties.

According to the Department of Labor, the owner of six facilities in the Sacramento area also failed to pay overtime wages, recovering $306,066 in wages and damages for 44 employees. The owner was also assessed $18,326 in penalties. Those facilities were Laguna Village RCFE, Laguna Springs RCFE and Signature Living on Lavelli Way in Elk Grove; Havenwood RCFE and Capital Senior Care in Sacramento; and Signature Living RCFE in Rancho Cordova.

The department said another Sacramento adult home provider, Jacson’s Facilities Inc., failed to pay one employee for all hours worked, made illegal deductions and failed to pay overtime rates. $46,623 in back wages were recovered.
