(FOX40.COM) — A 24-year-old man was shot and killed by deputies in Carmichael on Thursday morning after firing at them from a rooftop, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began around 11:30 p.m. when deputies received calls of a man causing a disturbance with his roommates along Moraga Drive near Del Campo High School.

The man then left the home to go to the store and returned seeming agitated, according to the sheriff’s office, and fired a handgun at the ceiling.
After firing the shot, the man fled the home and ran about a mile northeast to the 6800 block of Ashfield Way where he climbed onto the roof of a home after attempting to force entry.
While on the roof the man fired at deputies who shot back, striking the man and killing him, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s officials say school will continue as usual at Del Campo High School, Will Rogers Middle School, and Harry Dewey Fund Elementary School.
