Dense Fog and Powerful Weekend Storms Set to Impact Northern California

Northern California residents should prepare for foggy mornings and incoming rain as weather patterns shift this week. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for tonight, with the thickest fog expected in the Sacramento Valley northward to Redding. Visibility may drop below half a mile in these areas, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Friday’s fog potential is less certain as the first in a series of atmospheric river (AR) systems approaches. Starting Saturday, the initial storm is expected to bring light rain to the Sacramento area and heavier precipitation further north. Snowfall in the Sierra will likely remain above 7,000 feet, with minimal impacts expected.

More storms are forecast through Christmas week.
