(FOX40.COM) — Village Express Donuts in Tahoe Park is welcoming back its owner, Mr. Lee after recovering from injuries following an attack at his shop.
With help from the community, his shop has been remodeled with fresh paint, new coffee machines, updated kitchen equipment, and security cameras.
With assistance from the mayor, Caldwell Construction, and Java City, the community raised nearly $25,000 to support the remodel.
“We wanted to show Mr. Lee how much everyone cares about him,” said Isaac Gonzalez, President of the Tahoe Park Neighborhood Association.
Dozens of community members waited for his arrival with balloons, flowers, gifts and even more donations.
“I feel so happy to see everyone, really, really happy,” said Mr. Lee.
Java City surprised the shop with one year of free coffee.
The donut shop is open, showing the strength and support of the Tahoe Park community.
