Sacramento Man Sentenced to 36 Years to Life for Fatal DUI Crash That Killed Two

Last Wednesday, Ricardo Beltram received a 36-years-to-life sentence for his role in a fatal DUI that claimed the lives of two individuals, following a guilty plea for two counts of second-degree murder, among other charges. As reported by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office in an article published on April 3, Deputy District Attorney Adrianne McMillan of the Major Crimes Unit brought the charges against Beltram, whose dangerous actions resulted in a devastating collision back in July 2021.

Driving through Northgate Boulevard and Garden Highway at more than 80 mph, Beltram ran a red light and collided with a car containing three passengers. The collision occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on July 10, 2021, tragically killing two passengers, both aged 28, at the scene. The third victim, who sustained broken bones and abrasions, found himself amidst a life-shattering incident that, like a hammer bludgeoning through a sheet of thin glass, shattered the peace of the night.

At the time of his arrest, Beltram’s blood-alcohol content was .27%, more than three times the legal limit, and he later registered .19% when officers obtained his blood via a search warrant five hours after the collision. According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office, Beltram had a prior history of DUI offenses and had been given the Watson advisement and attended a Mothers Against Drunk Driving course after his second DUI conviction…
