Las Vegas Man Sentenced to Over 16 Years for Drug Trafficking, Stemming from Memphis Investigation

A Las Vegas man has been handed a sentence of over 16 years in federal prison for drug trafficking offenses, with United States District Judge Mark S. Norris imposing the 197-month term on April 3, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The individual in question, Timothy Edwards, age 49, previously from Memphis, was convicted on charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute drugs, a case that unfolded with law enforcement intercepting two substantial shipments of drugs linked to him.

The investigation into Edwards by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) commenced when a suspicious package surfaced at a local UPS Store on April 1, 2021, containing 6,793.5 grams of marijuana and 1,247 grams of methamphetamine and a second package containing 4.9 pounds of marijuana was intercepted on June 3, 2021 — both parcels were dispatched from California and destined for Memphis, having Edwards listed as the recipient or tied to a P.O. Box linked to him, which ultimately led to his downfall; after a jury trial in October 2024, he was found guilty on two counts.

Following the trial, Judge Norris sentenced Edwards to a multi-year prison term, which will be succeeded by five years of supervised release; it is important to note that federal prisoners are not eligible for parole.
