Arcade Creek Bridge to be replaced due to structural issues

Officials said construction is set to begin in May with a major infrastructure upgrade being designed to reduce flooding, ease traffic, and improve the safety for all people who use the roadway.

The project is set to replace the existing Arcade Creek Bridge, which was originally built in 1927, according to authorities. This modern structure is set to meet the current Caltrans and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials design standards.

“This project is really about creating a safer and more resilient corridor for everyone—drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians,” said Philip Vulliet, senior engineer with the Department of Public Works. “We’re adding continuous sidewalks and bike lanes throughout the project area, which don’t exist today.”…
