Sacramento bowling alley could be saved as historic landmark

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A decades-old bowling alley in Sacramento’s South Land Park may get saved from demolition following a fire that led to its closure.

City officials will discuss designating AMF Land Park Lanes, located at 5850 Freeport Blvd., a local historic landmark at Wednesday’s meeting of the Preservation Commission.

The bowling alley officially shut down in March 2024, a month after it was heavily damaged by a fire. Initial plans called for its demolition, but officials are now considering rehabilitating the site if it gains historic landmark status…
