State government sends $56 million to California counties to fight problematic youth homelessness

SACRAMENTO — A new round of state funding is heading to counties across California to help tackle youth homelessness. Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Housing and Community Development announced a $56 million investment this week aimed at helping young adults, especially those exiting foster care and probation systems, secure stable housing and support services.

The funding will support counties including Los Angeles, Sacramento, Alameda, and San Diego as part of a larger effort to reduce youth homelessness statewide.
