SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Northern California is warming up heading into the weekend!
According to the ABC10 Weather Impact team, the Sacramento region will be seeing heat it hasn’t seen since early October 2024. The impacts start to settle in on Friday and Saturday, with triple-digit temperatures potentially challenging daily high records.
Some cities and counties have started opening cooling centers in response to the extreme heat.
Sacramento County
First Step Communities, North A Street Emergency Shelter (1400 North A St)
- Open Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31, from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. each day
- Pets are welcome (one per person, two per couple); must be crated at all times. Crates/leashes and dog/cat food are provided.
- Guests will receive snacks and dinner
- Phone/device charging available
- Restrooms available
Outreach and Engagement Center (3615 Auburn Boulevard)
- Opens: 10 a.m. Friday (May 30)
- Closes 8 a.m. Sunday (June 1)
Sam & Bonnie Pannell Community Center (2450 Meadowview Road)
