(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department released a statement Monday that said it is still working to locate Lovett “LJ” Moore, a blind man who went missing under mysterious circumstances more than a week ago. • Video Above: Family continues to seek answers for their missing loved one“
Lovett Moore, 33, was last seen on June 28 at the Aisle 1 gas station in the 3200 block of Arena Boulevard wearing a green shirt and black shorts with a white stripe, according to his family. Moore is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with black hair. He also has a large burn or bandage on his left leg.
On June 5, his family and the non-profit organization, Empact, hosted a press conference because they felt as if the police were not doing enough to find him. Moore was reportedly seen on surveillance footage with three individuals who walked him out of a store and toward a vehicle on June 28. He has not been seen since. However, Moore’s family said SPD had not interviewed or contacted the people in the video.
“This is a blatant failure to act with urgency,” Empact founder Leia Schenk said in a statement. We see time and time again that missing persons with disabilities, particularly Black men and women, do not receive the same priority and visibility. LJ is blind, vulnerable, and at risk. The system must respond accordingly.”…
