(FOX40.COM) — New technology used by Northern California police helped catch alleged thieves and more than $53,000 worth of stolen copper wire.• Video Above: Is property crime going up in America?
On June 18, more than 6,200 feet of wire were stolen from an area near University Avenue and Whitney Ranch Parkway, according to the Rocklin Police Department. The week after, a second theft happened near Kathy Lund Park.
RPD said it reviewed hours of camera footage and eventually identified the suspected vehicle involved. Police said the vehicle had “suspicious travel patterns” that matched the timeframe of both thefts.
Just before 2 a.m. on June 28, officers found the vehicle near University Avenue and Orchid Drive and arrested Lori Fryzel, 46, and Joel Banner, 43, both of Vallejo. The suspects were booked into Placer County Jail for alleged thefts, including an additional attempt that police said was planned for that same night…
