Elk Grove community celebrates grand opening of new recreation center, CORE

(FOX40.COM) — Thousands of Elk Grove residents showed up to celebrate the grand opening of CORE, the city’s “new hub for health, wellness, and connection.”

CORE is a two-story, 59,000-square-foot recreation facility built on about four acres in Morse Community Park. It is operated by the Cosumnes Community Services District and advertised as a major investment in the community’s health and quality of life. CORE was designed for active families, casual users, and fitness enthusiasts alike, according to Cosumnes CSD.

The grand-opening event kicked off with a ceremony at the fitness and recreation center’s outdoor amphitheater, remarks from city leaders, and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting that officially opened the doors to the public.

“As we celebrate Cosumnes CSD’s 40th anniversary, this facility shows what’s possible when we listen to our community and turn a shared vision into reality,” said Cosumnes CSD Board President Angela Spease. “CORE belongs to the community, and we look forward to seeing how it inspires health and happiness for generations to come.”…
