(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department has released a new video on social media with moments leading up to the officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 14.
The 13-minute-long video starts with Sacramento police responding to a call for service of a suspect who said that he was armed with a sword and “trying to kill his friend,” and finishes with officers rendering emergency medical aid.
On July 14, around 1:30 a.m., police said that SPD patrol officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon in the 3100 block of Occidental Drive. The suspect called the police and was threatening to kill his roommate.
At around 1:45 a.m., Sacramento police said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect armed with a sword outside of his home. Crews attempted to de-escalate and negotiate with him to put down the sword.
