Rancho Cordova Embraces eMobility, Know Your eBike and eScooter Regulations

Rancho Cordova is seeing more eBikes and eScooters on its streets as residents turn to these options for convenience and eco-friendly travel. City officials remind the public that regulations are in place for safe use. According to the City of Rancho Cordova, eBikes are divided into three classes based on speed limits and how they are powered.

The City of Rancho Cordova has set rules for electric transportation. Class 1 and Class 3 eBikes provide pedal assistance, with speed limits of 20 MPH and 28 MPH. Class 2 eBikes can run with a throttle. Class 3 eBikes must have a speedometer, and riders must be at least 16 years old; helmets are required for riders under 18. Mopeds and motorized bicycles without pedals are limited to 30 MPH, and operators need a valid driver’s license with an M-1 or M-2 endorsement and a DOT-approved helmet.
