After completing a recent call for service at a local shopping center, the Citrus Heights Police Department officer observed a woman nearby who appeared to be distressed because of a flat tire. Together, they changed the woman’s tire, ensured her tools and spare were properly secured, and provided reassurance throughout the process.

According to CHPD, the woman expressed her gratitude and shared that she was recently widowed. She told them she had been feeling overwhelmed and that their assistance provided her with not only immediate help but also with a sense of compassion and care during a difficult time.

Police said that after the woman promised to stay off the highway while using the spare “donut” tire, to keep it under 100 mph, and to get her vehicle over to the tire shop as soon as she could, she embraced them and took a photo.
