Sacramento Firefighters Mobilize to Combat Growing Gifford Fire in Santa Barbara County

Firefighters from multiple Sacramento-area fire departments are heading towards Santa Barbara County to join forces against the raging Gifford Fire. As reported by ABC10, the Office of Emergency Services Type-3 Strike Team includes professionals from the Sacramento Fire Department, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, West Sacramento Fire Department, Cusumnes Fire Department, and Manteca Fire Department.

The current status of the fire, which covers over 23,000 acres and stands at merely 5% containment, presents a significant challenge for firefighters and emergency services working around the clock. According to details from a KCRA report, areas surrounding the fire’s vicinity, which sparked near Highway 166 northeast of Santa Maria and has crossed over into San Luis Obispo County, are now facing evacuation procedures in light of the expanding threat.
