Man arrested for attempted rape in Placer park as deputies end up in car crash

Placer County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of attempting to rape a woman in a park outside Roseville Sunday afternoon — while other deputies on their way to the scene wound up in a car crash.

The woman was walking in Dry Creek Community Park in the late afternoon when a man appeared and tried to grab her, said Elise Soviar, a spokesperson for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. The man exposed himself and followed the victim, who called 911 before she was able to run away from him, Soviar said.

Deputies responded to the woman’s report around 5:30 p.m., according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. They found the suspect in the park, Soviar said. Jail records show he is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Placer Superior Court…
