Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible explosive device discovered near an apartment complex in Carmichael Sunday morning. The incident has drawn specialized bomb disposal teams to the quiet residential area as authorities work to determine the nature of the suspicious object.
According to KCRA, the investigation began when Sacramento Metro Fire crews responded to reports of an unknown cylinder in the middle of Mission Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Fire officials then requested assistance from the sheriff’s office explosive ordnance disposal team to assess the potential threat.
The discovery occurred in the 3500 block of Mission Avenue, a densely populated section of the Carmichael area that houses both residential complexes and community facilities. KCRA reports that no evacuations have been ordered at this time, suggesting authorities may have determined the device poses a contained risk.
