Early yesterday morning, the stillness of Sacramento’s streets was broken when police responded to a distressing scene. At approximately 2:00 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department arrived at the intersection of 12th Street and Blues Alley following reports of a person down in the roadway. According to a post on the Sacramento Police Department official social media page, they discovered an adult male with at least one gunshot wound upon their arrival.
Despite immediate emergency medical aid provided by the officers, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin and will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office at a later date. The investigation, handed over to Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators, is still ongoing as they work to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
